Hi! I'm Gail Rosenblum.

I'm a Minneapolis-based journalist, essayist, public speaker, and teacher. My work has appeared in dozens of newspapers and national magazines over more than 40 years.

My first book, “A Hundred Lives Since Then: Essays on Motherhood, Marriage, Mortality & More,” was updated in 2022 with 13 new essays. You can order it here or at one of these terrific Minnesota-based INDEPENDENT bookstores: Wild Rumpus, Magers & Quinn, Eat My Words, Next Chapter Booksellers, Drury Lane Books and Fair Trade Books.

In 2019, I founded MPGL Entertainment (Man Plans, God Laughs), a nonprofit entertainment company producing animated films and teaching lessons to nurture a generation of informed, empathetic and engaged young adults. Our current project is a feature animation and free middle school teaching lessons using the Holocaust-era novel, “Milkweed,” by beloved young adult author Jerry Spinelli. For the youngest children, we offer the charming and lively “Enough Already!” - a 30-minute animated film with teaching lessons about gratitude, based on a popular Yiddish folktale.

I have a bachelor’s degree in journalism from the University of New Mexico, and a master’s degree in journalism, with a concentration in public health, from the University of Minnesota. My writing has garnered awards from the Associated Press, the American Association of Sunday and Feature Editors, and the Society of Professional Journalists in Minnesota and Texas. I'm the mother of three young adults, bonus mom of three more and recently gained two happy new titles: Mother-in-law and grandmother!

“I find joy in telling people stories because, in their telling, we can see how much we have in common.”

— Gail Rosenblum
